Rapper 20-Year Hiatus Comes Back with a Bang as JAIRUBYTE
In the dynamic world of Bisaya music and entertainment, few stories are as inspiring as the journey of Jairus Mark G. Dakoykoy. After a remarkable early start in the mid-2000s and a two-decade hiatus, the artist is officially back, this time under the stage name JAIRUBYTE.
Early Breakthrough in the Bisaya Rap Scene
Dakoykoy first made waves in 2004 and 2005 when he performed his own original Bisaya rap lyrics on the popular radio program segment “Raprapan Sa Hot” on 91.5 Hot FM. His raw talent and authentic Cebuano flow quickly caught the attention of local audiences.
In 2006, he took his career to television, appearing on CCTN47 where he performed the track “Lamok Sa Suok” on the segment “Salamat Sa Musika”. The performance was so well-received that it evolved into a full sitcom show titled “Ang Lamok Sa Suok”, marking a significant milestone in his early entertainment career.
While building his name in music and acting, Dakoykoy remained committed to his education. He continued his studies and graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication from CIT-U (Cebu Institute of Technology – University).
He made a brief return to acting in 2015–2016, reprising his role in the “Ang Lamok Sa Suok” segment on CCTN47, delighting longtime fans.

A New Chapter in 2026
After years focused on personal growth, education, and entrepreneurship — including running the online pet essentials business FURGOOD Pet Essentials (2023–2024) – Dakoykoy is answering the call of the microphone once more.
This summer of 2026, he officially returns to the music industry as JAIRUBYTE, signed under the rising Pamati Pino Record Label. He is working closely with Music Producer Dodie Batoctoy on fresh material that blends his classic Bisaya rap roots with modern sounds. Fans can expect authentic Cebuano lyricism, energetic delivery, and stories that reflect both his journey and the current generation.
From Radio to Records: A Full-Circle Moment
What makes JAIRUBYTE’s comeback special is the full-circle nature of his story. From performing live on local radio and TV in the 2000s to signing with a record label in 2026, his persistence proves that passion for music never truly fades. “I’m excited to bring new Bisaya rap to the scene,” Dakoykoy shared. “It’s been a long time, but the fire is still here.”
A Legacy of Music Runs in the Family
His return to music carries even deeper meaning when you look at his family roots. His grandmother, Presentacion Dakoykoy, famously known as “TIKAY”, was a pioneering voice in Cebu broadcasting. Since the 1950s, she was a beloved figure on DYRC, where she entertained listeners and famously sang the iconic business jingle for SIÑAPING, a brand still remembered by many older Cebuanos today.
This rich musical heritage from his grandmother adds a full-circle narrative to JAIRUBYTE’s comeback. What began with “Tikay” on the airwaves in the 1950s now continues through her grandson in 2026, bringing Bisaya rap and modern sounds to a new generation. The Dakoykoy name has now spanned over seven decades in Cebu’s entertainment and music scene – a true testament to the family’s lasting passion for performance and connecting with audiences through song.
